Theme 4: Resource Economics
The Problem
With the rise of natural disturbances and impacts on drinking water sources, the cost of treating water is becoming prohibitively expensive for the first time in recent history, creating problems for municipalities large and small.
The Approach
forWater researchers are looking at the direct and indirect economic implications of alternative forest management technologies to better support source water protection for our drinking water.
The Impact
Assessing the benefits and costs of different forest management technologies will enable cost-effective source water protection for the treatment systems used by our partners across Canada. Supporting quality drinking water with effective use of limited economic resources.
